Easy, Breezy Summer Outfit

Happy Memorial Day! I'm so thankful for our brave soldiers for their service and sacrifice.

What do you have planned today? Yesterday we had a cook out at my parent's house, but today we're relaxing and getting things done around the house!

This summery outfit is so comfy and effortless! I love a good maxi skirt during the summer months. I like wearing maxi's on a mild summer day and they're perfect for summer evenings! My striped maxi skirt is from Target and on sale for $15!! One of the things I like about this skirt is the length. I usually have trouble finding maxi skirts/dresses that aren't too long (I'm only 5'4"). This one is a good length and I can wear it with sandals. Also, the material isn't too thin! My exact color combo is sold out, but there are 5 other colors to choose from! If you're liking mine though, check out the sale racks at your local Target- that's where I found it!

I paired the maxi with a basic white tank I also got at Target. They have so many solid colored tanks and tees for under $10 (some are as low as $5)! I'm a big fan of their basic tees/tanks. They're great for layering or wearing alone in the summer! :)
These super cute lace up wedges are on sale at Kohl's for $39.99. They are pretty comfy and the wedge is a nice height. There are a few colors to pick from (I also like the gold), but hurry- sizes are going fast!

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale (up to 40% off!)

The Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale is going on right now and there are so many good deals on clothing, bags, shoes, accessories, and more! I rounded up a few of my favorites with a neutral theme. The Halogen T-Strap Pumps (#5) are amazing! I have them in black and I also love the pale pink color. The Lush Shift Dress (#11) comes in tons of colors and is perfect for spring/summer events like wedding festivities, graduations, parties and more! There's so much more on the website, so be sure to check it out!  Sale items are going fast, so if you like something, don't wait! :)

Styling a Maxi Dress

Today I've teamed up with some of my blogger friends to share
how to style maxi dresses for work

Andrea of Momma in Flip Flops // Carly of Thirty Something Fashion // Tiffani of Tiffani at Breton Bay // Kristin of BonBon Rose Girls // Shannon of The Simple Moms

This mint, gray and white maxi is from Charming Charlie and was purchased last summer. I love the color and solid/stripe contrast. Mint is one of my favorite summer colors! This dress is so flattering and modest enough to wear to work, family parties, date night, church, etc! I would add a white cardigan or a jean jacket to this dress on chilly days or if sleeves are required for your work environment. I'm loving Charming Charlie's maxi dress collection this year- check it out here (they have several cute mint options!).

My mint wedges are also from Charming Charlie! I love how perfectly they match the dress. The wedge is low, so they are pretty comfy. Charming Charlie has these wedges in a few colors in stores, but only the dark blue color online. I really like these mint wedges at DSW too (on sale for $39.95).

$18 Striped Summer Dress

Striped shirt dresses are all the rage this spring and summer! The Lou & Grey Striped Tee Dress was such a good find at LOFT. It's great quality, comfortable and flattering! I love how practical and easy this dress is to style. For shoes, I wore sandals, but you can pair this dress with white sneakers, wedges, flip flops, and more! A straw hat would be super cute with this dress, too!

It comes in two colors, magenta and hunter green, and is ON SALE FOR $18! It's marked down to $44.99 with an extra 60% off (use code FLASH). This is the perfect shirt dress at an awesome price!
Payless has a great selection of summer shoes this year! I went in a few weeks ago to check out their sandals, and I left with these lace up low wedges. These sandals are the perfect neutral color and they are really comfy! I also love the small wedge for a little height and more support.

The Zoey Ghillie Low Wedge is on sale at Payless for $29.99.

What's in My Make Up Bag

Today I'm sharing some of my favorite every day make up products!

Most of these items I've been using for years and some I have newly discovered. I've tried a lot of different make up products over the years and have come to love these! FYI, I didn't include a few of my daily products in this post, like eye shadow and blush. I currently wear Bare Minerals blush and Physicians Formula eye shadow. If you have any questions, comment below! :)

Physicians Formula Conceal RX (natural light) // on sale for $5.99!

I've been using Bare Minerals matte foundation, bronzer and blush for years now. I love the coverage I get from mineral make up and it looks really natural. Bare Minerals is a little pricey, but they last a looong time! I apply the Physicians Formula Concealer under my eyes and to cover blemishes, then I use the Bare Minerals products (foundation first, then a little bronzer all over, then blush).

*More colors available here
M.A.C. 'The Matte Lip' Lipstick (Flat Out Fabulous) // $17
M.A.C. Lip Pencil (Heroine) // $16.50

These are some of my favorite spring and summer lip colors. First, the Bare Minerals Moxie Lip Glosses are amazing! They are a thick/shiny gloss with the perfect amount of color. I have two moxie lip glosses, 'It Girl' and 'Hot Shot' (a pretty coral color). The color pictured above (It Girl) is discontinued in stores but it's on sale on Amazon! I love this hot pink color for summer.

I'm a huge fan of M.A.C. matte lipstick and liner. The 'Flat Out Fabulous' lipstick and 'Heroine' liner are a perfect match. The color is a vibrant and fun purple! I use the M.A.C. Prep + Prime before applying liner and lipstick. It's a great primer that hydrates and smooths the lips and prevents lipstick bleeds.

For a less expensive lip gloss, I recommend Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm. You can get this gloss at any drug store. I have a few of the colors and use them often! The orange/peach color in my photos is really fun for summertime and the beach.

I usually wear Physicians Formula mascara (currently 40% off at CVS) but I treat myself from time to time with the Laura Geller DramaLASH Mascara. Since I go through mascara pretty quickly, I try not to spend a lot each time. Due to allergies, I have to wear all hypoallergenic eye make up. Both Physicians Formula and Laura Geller make up are hypoallergenic and geared toward sensitive eyes. Physicians Formula mascara works pretty well, although I have to apply several coats. Laura Geller make up is amazing! The DramaLASH mascara thickens and lengthens my lashes so much!! Since I can't try a lot of mascaras, I was thrilled to discover her make up line.

Laura Geller Calligraphy Liquid Eyeliner is THE BEST. I wear this liner on my upper lids every day. It glides on easily and you can apply it as thick or thin as you want. It dries fast and stays in place all day! I've had this liner for over a year and it's still going strong.

For brows, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. This product is creamy and glides on easily. A little goes a LONG way and it lasts forever!! I use a brow brush to draw a thin layer (following my brow line) and then I brush over my brows with a spooley. This blends the brow liner and gives a more natural look. I HIGHLY recommend this liner- they have tons of color options available!

Hope you enjoyed this post! What are your favorite make up products??

Classic White Tee + Fashion Sneakers

Outfit Details

A classic white tee is a closet staple! There are so many ways to style a white tee, but today I'm pairing mine with distressed boyfriend jeans and converse sneakers. This outfit is casual, yet stylish and put together and it's really easy to recreate!

The LOFT Vintage Soft Tee is the perfect tee! I love the fit, scoop neck and chest pocket. It comes in a bunch of colors and is currently on sale for $15 (no code needed)! I have a few LOFT tees and wear them all the time...they are great for layering. Since we are having a chilly May here, I added a denim jacket. A good jean jacket is another wardrobe must have!

Here are a few I like at various price ranges:

For bottoms, I went with my black distressed 1969 Girlfriend Jeans from GAP. I absolutely love these jeans and have featured them several times here on the blog. They are finally selling out though, and sizes are pretty limited. They have a few sizes left in regular and a bunch in tall. Check them out- they are only $24.99!

I'm loving the fashion sneaker trend this year...comfy and chic! I recently added these Converse Chuck Taylor Shoreline Sneakers (available at Nordstrom) to my closet. They are my first Converse sneaks and from what I hear, they last forever! At $49.95, they don't break the bank and I love how the white color matches everything. I'm excited to style these with jeans shorts, too (if the weather ever gets warm here grrr). FYI, I'm always a 7.5 shoe size, but I took a 7 in these.

I linked all accessory details above!

"Olive" You

"Olive" You! :)

I've always thought of the color olive as just a fall/winter color, but that's not the case! It all depends on how you style the color for the season! I recently bought this Pleione Mixed Media V-Neck Tunic at Nordstrom and couldn't wait to style it for spring and summer. I knew the olive color would look great with white skinny jeans and neutral shoes like my open toe booties (wedges would be adorable, too). This look is clean and crisp for the spring! The cut of this tunic is flattering and the material is so comfy! I also love the roll tab sleeves. It's definitely a year round top!

I can't believe it, but only THIS MORNING did the olive color sell out. MEH. I linked the same tunic in other colors and it's on sale for $34.80! Shop it here

If you love the olive color, I HIGHLY recommend the Lush Perfect Roll Tab Sleeve Tunic which is on sale for $27.90. I have it in teal and it's very similar to the Pleione one!

Nordstrom always has free shipping and returns, by the way!

I love how olive looks with neutral colors! My animal print fold over clutch from Le Boutique Shop is the perfect addition to this outfit. I've had my eye on the popular Clare. V clutch for a long time but it's super pricey. This Le Boutique clutch looks just like the Clare V. one but it's only $45.99! I carry it a lot and find that it matches everything (leopard is a neutral, after all!).

Spring Fashion: Floral & Tassels

Happy Monday!

Did you all have a nice Mother's Day? We had a very busy weekend! On Saturday, we celebrated my cousin's graduation from college and on Sunday, we went to church in the morning and had a Mother's Day lunch at my parent's house in the afternoon. After a week of rain, it FINALLY stopped and yesterday was gorgeous!

I wore this quilted tassel blouse and floral cropped pants (both from LOFT) to my cousin's graduation ceremony on Saturday morning. This ivory blouse is lightweight and can be mixed and matched with so many bottoms for the spring and summer months! And of course, the tassels are adorable. The floral cropped pants are so summery and LOFT carries them in a variety of colors and patterns. This outfit is perfect for spring/summer events like graduations, bridal/baby showers, church events, lunch/dinner out, and more!

The tassel top is currently on sale for $23.99 and the floral pants are on sale for $38.99 (no code needed)!
Saddle bags are all the rage this year!

I'm loving these fashionable crossbody bags and purchased my first one recently from Marshall's. This blush saddle bag is Franco Sarto and I got an awesome deal for it. I just LOVE Marshall's and T.J. Maxx! Blush and shades of pink are popular colors this season and I'm really liking the trend. When I saw this bag, I couldn't resist...and again, the tassel won me over!

Sole Society has a similar saddle bag that comes in blush, gray, and navy (so cute!!). It's available at Nordstrom for $44.95
