Welcome Logan Reid!

LOGAN REID DEWIRE // JUNE 7, 2017 AT 7:15PM // 6LBS 9OZ 20"

Birth Day:
We've decided not to share a full birth story (like many bloggers do), but I will share a few details from the day. It's actually pretty comical at the beginning! Logan was born at exactly 41 weeks, so a week late. I was trying many things to induce labor and that morning I had an acupuncture appointment scheduled. I've never done acupuncture before but apparently it can be very effective for inducing labor. I'll never know though because I didn't make it! I got to my appointment, stepped out of my car, and my water broke! Since I was closer to the hospital than to my house, I called my OB and drove myself over to the hospital. I called Todd, he left work and headed home to get our hospital bags. My mom met him at our house and I told them over the phone what to throw in our bags last minute! They met me at the hospital (with WAY too much stuff LOL) where I was already set up in our labor and delivery room. We just had to laugh at the fact that I drove myself an hour from home while 41 weeks pregnant and then took myself to the hospital. I wasn't having contractions yet, so I was able to drive safely! I started pitocin around 10:30am and Logan was born at 7:15pm. The day actually went by pretty fast. My mom and Todd were with me and then my sister came after work. It was special to have them there for Logan's birth. The rest of our immediate family met him shortly after he was born.

His Name:
Logan Reid was actually a last minute decision! Logan was not on our list of potential names until a week before he was born. We had pretty much narrowed it down to one name and then Todd thought of Logan. It took me some time to wrap my head around the name since I thought we were going with something else! After he was born, I kept looking at him and Logan just seemed to fit. It took us a whole 24 hours to announce his birth because he didn't have an official name and I was being indecisive! Ha. We came up with his middle name in the hospital. I've always liked the name Reid and it flows nicely with Logan!

Life at Home:
Overall, we've been adjusting pretty well so far. We are blessed to have family nearby and have had a lot of help from both of our parents. Also, Todd is home from work for a few weeks which has been very nice! We've mostly been home over the past week and a half but have ventured out a few times for pediatrician appointments, lunch, etc. It's hard to do much at this point since newborns eat so often and constantly need diaper changes! Also, Logan's not on a set feeding/sleeping schedule yet since he's so young, which makes things unpredictable from day to day. Right now, I'm trying to sleep when I can and enjoy all the baby snuggles! Also, for those interested, Jax is doing REALLY well with Logan. He honestly doesn't know what to make of him and just stays away! I was nervous that Jax would be jealous of Logan, but so far he hasn't been that way and I'm thankful.

Thank you SO MUCH for all the congratulations, love and support! God has truly blessed us with little Logan!
Children are a gift from God.
