Workwear Wednesday

Today I'm collaborating with several other blogger friends to share how we style workwear!

For a few years, I was a middle and high school music teacher and I had to dress professionally each day. Because of this job and also attending weekly church services, I have SO MANY dress pants and nice tops. I used to wear this sort of outfit all the time! This year I decided to change gears a bit with jobs, so I dress more casually on a regular basis. That being said, I've become a workwear pro and I'm excited to share some of my "typical" workwear clothing with you!
My "go to" workwear includes black dress pants, a nice tank and a blazer. Let's start with this burgundy Lauren Conrad blazer from Kohl's. I think I found this on a sale rack a few years back and since then, I've worn it SO much. Of course I love the color, but I also really like the bunched three quarter length sleeves and the long length. You can shop a similar LC blazer here (port royale color- on sale!).

Under the blazer, I wore my white ruffled tank top (also from Kohl's). I like how it dresses the outfit up! It's a gorgeous tank top worn alone and it's also perfect for wearing under blazers and cardigans for work. I've found over the years that I get a lot of wear out of these versatile tanks for layering. There is a VERY similar one available at Kohl's still (also comes in black)!
I accessorized this outfit with my Baublebar Showgirl Fringe Strand statement necklace. This necklace definitely makes a statement and I love how it spices up this classic professional look. The tank and blazer look pretty with a simple necklace too, if you prefer that! I would stick with a shorter necklace with a top like this because of the ruffles.

To complete the look, I wore my Nine West leopard pumps and reversible faux leather tote. These pumps are the perfect heel height and on sale for $29.99! Of course, there were many work days where I would wear flats instead, especially when I was on my feet for long periods of time! Flats are adorable and look just as nice with black dress pants.

A tote is a functional and stylish bag option for work. It's a good "carry all" size, which is necessary for the work day! I can fit my personal items (wallet, cell, make up, etc.), snacks, a book/notebook, and more! Lately, I've been carrying this tote to music rehearsals.

  2. Super cute and stylish. I think we are all feeling the red/burgundy vibe for our tops this season. I would have never thought to put the fringe necklace with the tank but it works so well!!
